‘Employing People Matters'
Every business has a legal obligation to ensure the health and safety of its employees and others affected by their business activities. Compliance with Health and Safety legislation is therefore a necessity and its importance cannot be overemphasised. Efficient health and safety practices provide reward in themselves, as not only will they will prevent significant costs as a result of accidents and illness due to poor health and safety measures, they will also help your business run smoothly and sustain a good reputation.
Therefore, in order to ensure the requirements of the legislation are being met by businesses and that they are well informed of any relevant changes, we offer businesses the opportunity to select a package tailored to their needs. The following Health and Safety packages are available under the Employing People Matters (EPM) programme:
1) Review of existing Health and Safety policies including minor revisions where necessary
2) On site audit of Health and Safety with all consequential updates and revisions
3) Health and Safety helpline for advice and legislation updates
4) In-house training
In terms of workplace relations, businesses must ensure that certain policies and procedures are in place, and that they are understood and adhered to. The EPM partnership can offer the following essential procedures to businesses:
Disciplinary (statutory requirement)
Grievance (statutory requirement)
Equal Opportunities
Health and Safety (statutory requirement)
Internal Communications
Data Protection
In order to assist businesses in getting the maximum benefit from the policies and procedures offered, the EPM partnership can provide a half day's orientation and training to employers and managers.
The WH Business Support Programme
For those employers who appreciate the benefit to their business of ensuring workplace relations run smoothly and the need to keep up to date with developments in employment and health and safety law, we offer the WH Business Support Programme.
For businesses who take up this Programme, we provide a more in-depth, longer term service which includes an initial – and ongoing - review of the business's current practices and procedures, to identify any issues that need attention and take the appropriate action. This may involve re-writing contracts and procedures and/or introducing new policies tailored to the needs of the business.
In the longer term we provide advice on all employment and health and safety issues which arise during the year and provide regular training for managers.
We provide this Programme for a monthly retainer, reviewable annually. The cost of the Programme is agreed with our clients according to the business's needs and the degree of risk – recognising that each business is different, we are flexible in tailoring the service according to the needs of the business.
