Sarah Pugh
Since
qualifying in 1991, I have been advising
businesses
and
individuals on all aspects of employment
and health and safety law, with a particular
focus
on diversity issues and employee confidentiality
and competition. My career has spanned working
for a large City firm, a German firm of lawyers
in Munich, the not-for-profit sector and
law
firms based in the Midlands, which has given
me a wide range of experiences. Whilst I
have
extensive experience of litigating and defending
claims on behalf of employers, I also enjoy
working with companies proactively, ensuring
they have taken all steps possible to avoid
disputes and litigation and can focus on
running a successful and productive business.
To this
end, I am a keen advocate of alternative
dispute resolution, in particular mediation.
My approach
to advising employers is to understand the
nature of their business, be practical and
look for holistic solutions. |

I am a Solicitor dealing with both employment and health and safety law. I qualified in March 2010 after studying at the University of Liverpool and the College of Law in Chester and completing 2 years of training with W H Law LLP. I have a high attention to detail and enjoy lateral thinking, tailoring solutions to meet individual needs. I help in both the prevention of potential problems by implementing practices and procedures for employers and helping employees to follow these procedures thus ensuring issues are avoided or resolved before they develop. I also help both employers and employees deal with any problems which do arise. Being exposed to the consequences of employment and health and safety actions enables me to constantly evolve methods to ensure our clients get up to date information and advice. The ever-changing nature of these areas keeps me enthused and motivated. |

I
started working in accountancy in December
1955 working
for
Hugh Pinner and Trevor Darlington, but then
in 1969 I started working for the Solicitors
firm Hawkins and Co in Dudley. I remained
there until it ceased operating in December
2005, during which time – a period
of nearly 40 years - many changes occurred
in
the legal profession, from handwritten documents,
books and ledgers through to computerisation
and all the benefits of modern office technology.
I continued work with the new bigger practice
of Hawkins Hatton
in August 2007. I commenced working again
for WH Law in December 2007, exactly 52 years
from the time I first entered accountancy
in Bath Rd., Wolverhampton offices of Pinner
Ryley. I thoroughly enjoyed work for all
these
years too. |
